Becoming a volunteer is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people and do something positive for your community.

Volunteering will increase your own confidence and get a sense of satisfaction and achievement whilst helping others. It's a great way to make new friends and meet like-minded people, try something different and gain new skills. It could even improve your job prospects or help you get new qualifications.

There are many ways to volunteer depending on how much time you can spare. There are groups and organisations that help with things like gardening, young people's activities, and helping vulnerable groups.

If you want to find out more, you can contact the local Volunteer Centre. They have links with most of the voluntary organisations in the borough and can talk to you about what you might be interested in most. You could also contact the group that you are interested in volunteering for directly.
